Successful ICASS VI in Nuuk

The Sixth International Congress of Arctic Social Sciences, ICASS VI: Arctic Social Sciences - Prospects for the International Polar Year 2007-2008 Era and Beyond, took place at Ilisimatusarfik, the University of Greenland in Nuuk from August 22-26, 2008.

On 29 – 30th of October, 2008 the UArctic Regional Office in Yakutsk (Russia) conducted the workshop: Innovations and Innovative Technologies in Education. The event was hosted by the Sakha State University, named after M.K. Ammosov.

The third UArctic Rectors’ Forum will be held in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, from June 3 to 5, 2009. The forum will be hosted by Professor Boris Rudnik, Rector of Yugra State University.

Seven US undergraduate students and two faculty members ventured north for 4 weeks during July and August 2008 to continue research in the Linné Valley on the west Coast of Spitsbergen as part of the ongoing Svalbard Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program.
