The MOPC is an international business plan pitching competition for students and fresh graduates, showcasing new business concepts with a measurable, positive environmental impact on the ocean. Their mission is to concretely support the successful creation and development of start-ups and organizations able to demonstrate a positive impact on ocean preservation in a short or medium term.

The MOPC is an international competition jointly organized by the International University of Monaco, the Oceanographic Institute, Prince Albert I of Monaco Foundation, the Monaco Impact non-profit association and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.

It is aimed at students and young entrepreneurs and its goal is to reward new concepts and business models with a positive and measurable environmental impact on the Ocean.

Another objective is to support the winners in advancing or realizing their professional projects, by providing advice and support, as well as offering contacts and networks within professional circles. 

Who can participate?

"Early stage ideas" category: Open to students (Bachelor, Master, MBA, & PhD) and fresh graduates with a business concept.

"Existing start-ups" category: Open to students, fresh graduates, & entrepreneurs with an existing company that was created after January 2023.

It is not mandatory for members of groups to all be from one specialization or university. The registration is open from December 6 to March 6. Executive summaries and PDF presentations are due by this deadline in order to be considered as a semi-finalist. Project Guidelines

  • Projects must demonstrate a measurable and significant impact on the Ocean and
    must be developed on a global scale.
  • The business concept may be a new business model/process, or an innovative product or service that can be purchased and implemented by an existing company (corporate innovation).
  • The business concept may be a new business model that can be implemented by anew company (a startup), and therefore will require a business plan.
  • The business concept may be a communication strategy or plan that can be implemented by a company or organization.
