Altogether 17 oral presentations and 6 poster presentations by BSc, MSc and PhD students took place during the Science Section of the congress. The selection of the Student Award winners was done by a ten-member selection committee, consisting of UArctic Student Ambassadors and senior scientists, with support from UArctic Thematic Networks and Research Liaison Office. The Award winners were announced in a ceremony taking place during the closing session of the UArctic Congress 2016. The four students awarded for their excellent presentations in the congress were:


Elena Koptseva, Saint-Petersburg State University, for her poster presentation "Features of natural and artificial recovery in quarries of the forest-tundra zone of Western Siberia" in Session 1.5.

Anna Temp, University of Edinburgh, for her oral presentation "Exploring the explorers. Mood and mental health in the Polish Polar Station, Hornsund." in Session 4.4.

Laurie-Ann Lines, University of Alberta, for her oral presentation "Canadian First Nations, Metis and Inuit youth conceptions of health and health issues" in Session 4.4.

Maria Gostyaeva, Ural State University of Architecture and Art, for her oral presentation "Protecting by consuming: the design interpretation in the tourism industry" in Session 2.4.
