The professor gave copies of the book to the Cold Lands Fund of NEFU Scientific Library, accumulating scientific literature on Arctic issues.
The professor noted that the book is an attempt to conceptualize the definition of security in the broader context, giving accent to the social and environmental dimensions on the example of the Nordic countries. In addition to teaching and research, Gunhild Hoogensen Gjørv participates in various projects as a consultant. These projects are related to her research on civil-military interaction in conflict settings.
«The publication reflects the results of the International Polar Year project «The Impacts of Oil and Gas Activity on Peoples of the Arctic», funded by the Canadian and Norwegian Research Councils, including projects for the study of the physiological, social and economic impacts of resource industries on Arctic communities from a human security perspective», the professor said.
Gunhild Hoogensen Gjørv is a Professor of the Department of Sociology, Political Science and Community Planning of the Arctic University of Norway (Tromsø), Research Associate of the Department of Peace Operations and Peacebuilding, Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI).
