Communities in coastal Labrador are experiencing the impacts of climate variability and change. Potential topics include water resources, food security, and historical accounts of climate in Labrador. The research is in collaboration with the Nunatsiavut Government, NunatuKavut Community Council, and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. Funding for the research is in place and community consultation will start summer 2010.

Suitable undergraduate backgrounds include any specialization within human geography or environmental studies, or anthropology, development studies, and political science with an emphasis on the environment. A strong undergraduate degree and some understanding of climate variability and change, and human responses to climate change, are prerequisites.

Those interested should contact Trevor Bell (Memorial University, Geography, tbell@mun.ca) or Johanna Wolf (Memorial University, Labrador Institute and Faculty of Arts, jwolf@mun.ca) with a current curriculum vitae and a description of research interests.
