The School will be the second in the series of summer schools to be organized from 2016 to 2018 under the Jean-Monnet project “Systems for monitoring and responses to early warnings — EU experience for Russia”.

This year it aims to develop research capacity and enhance science-policy interactions for addressing water recourses governance issues in Siberia and beyond. The School will be primarily focused on monitoring, reporting and verification systems for water and ecosystem management as well as recognition of early warnings and sustainable development of resources essential for our planet.

The target audience is graduate and post-graduate students, early-stage researchers, civil servants and NGO activists around the globe involved in the management of freshwater ecosystems. The participants will be engaged in group projects on specific water/aquatic ecosystem-related topics and will be issued a Certificate (3 ECTS) upon completion of the program.

First two days of the School will be held in the SibFU Campus in the city of Krasnoyarsk. The field research period of the Summer School will be arranged at world-famous Baikal Lake and the Krasnoyarsk water reservoir (Krasnoyarsk Sea) in Russia. The locations provide splendid opportunities for setting-up case studies encompassing the range of issues to be resolved.
