The Norwegian Polar Institute (NPI) seeks a research scientist in the field of ecotoxicology to work in their newly established Centre for Ice, Climate, and Ecosystems (ICE). The successful applicant will work with research related to monitoring the effects of persistent organic pollutants and heavy metals on arctic organisms, sea birds, and mammals.
 
All projects, scientific focus, and results will be viewed from an ecosystem perspective.

This permanent position includes laboratory work and field studies in Svalbard, Norway, and will work closely with biologists, oceanographers, and sea ice researchers. The successful candidate will also serve as an adviser on issues of environmental management related to environmental contaminants in the Arctic.

Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant discipline and expertise in environmental contaminants, their biological effects, and environmental monitoring.
